The Double Door was knocked off it’s hinges last night by Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam. This 22 year old kid, just old enough to get into the joint, rocked the house. I’m not sure what delta bluesman he’s channeling but his fretwork, vocals and presence are way beyond his years. Weather he was playing his own material or covering CSNY he was great. The crowd was reall into him and he reciprocated by giving his all. Never saw these guys? Your loss, I hope to telling stories about seeing this guy as a youngster in 20 years.
poor submission
I saw Dave Knowles as the opening act fot Jeff Beck at The Park West and in Milwaukee. Both nights he played and sounded excellent and brought the crowd to their feet.
He has a fine future.
Davy Knowles is truly a gifted artist. He has the flavors of Stevie Ray Vaughn on guitar…and the voice as deep as Johnny Lang….what a combination. Saw him open for Gov’t Mule at The Venue in 2008…phenomenal! Wish I could’ve seen this time around!
