Last week, a few of us took the night to check out the XRT show at House of Blues with The B-52’s. The new single “Funplex” is getting plenty of attention these days and the band has a catalog of hits that you would be familiar with. After headlining an XRT New Year’s Event a few years back, they return with a new album to perform at the intimate House of Blues in Chicago? Let us know what you thought of the show, or tell us what you think….did you stay or did you go?
The B-52’s? Never was, never will be into them. I’m sure if you like one song you like them all because they are all the same, but you won’t find this man near their show. I’d rather stew in a pile of mud.
Love, love, love The B-52’s and thought there show was amazing! They keep putting out the most upbeat music I have ever heard. Don’t ask me how they look as good as they do after being around for so long, but I guess it’s the miracle of medical science!!!
One word: UNBELIEVABLE! This was by far the best show of the year. The B-52’s are just as hot as they were in their Wild Planet days and their new stuff really got my toes tappin’!
Love the B-52’s and would have really liked to see them. Too bad they were at The House of Blues. HOB has to be the worst venue in Chicago. After having to watch Todd Rundgren on a TV screen at one of the upstairs bars I vowed that I would never ever go there again!!!
I’ve never seen the B-52’s but would like to…..but the next time they are playing Rosie Odonnell is also on the bill. What is that? I wouldn’t get within 2000 miles of her let alone in the beautiful confines of the Chicago Theater she should’nt even be allowed to walk past the front door!
Not that big a fan of HOB but I will go see certain shows. It was 100 degrees in there before the show even started. Fred was in a good mood and that was great to see! Cindy was a little lifeless but Kate made up for her! There was a group of guys next to us singing/yelling along which was getting annoying. I pay to hear the band, not the drunken fans…
Saw them at Uptown or Riv when Loveshack came out… terrriiifffficcc.
anyone have lucinda williams tix?
The B-52s can still bring the heat!! The rhythm section was superb too. HOB is not for the weak; you gotta get there early and show some stamina!!
The B52’s put on fabulous, fun, and energetic shows and the House of Blues is a terrific venue for almost any performer…brings together all sorts of people and centralizes the crowd around the music and a community of fans…
House of Blues is one of my favorite places to see a show. While many people dislike it for it’s crowded house and general admission only, I think that standing room only really adds to the excitement and truly brings the focus back to the music. Saw Jonny Lang at the HOB last summer and it was one of the most riveting music experiences I’ve had in awhile.
